The Rohingya refugee camps scattered in the surrounding areas of New Delhi are severely dangerous, over-crowded and deprived. Rohingya refugees living in these camps are forced to endure these inhuman conditions.

 

Their right to stay is precarious and they are banned from living in permanent structures. The result is that these camps are prone to unhygienic conditions and this is impacting on the long term well being of the residents. Legal aid and legal support are hard to access for the Rohingya.

 

Many of the refugees are coming from an Apartheid like system in Myanmar where education was denied. This results in a high rate of Rohingya still living without their UNCHR cards, forcing them to live in the shadows and limiting their access to healthcare and education. The best way for Rohingya refugees to leave this downward spiral and live dignified lives is by accessing legal support.

Our campaign provides refugees legal aid in order to obtain recognised status through their UNCHR cards, a significant and positive step. Our vision is fuelled by the belief that the vulnerable in any society should be treated with honour and respect. This is fuelled by an unwavering moral conviction, steadfastness, and perseverance to make the world a better place for the weak and oppressed.
